Many of us know that Fred Rogers quote …

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’”

It’s a beautiful quote. I think it’s meant to inspire us to be the change we wish to see. But in practice it feels like so often it’s the same people helping. The mothers, the healthcare workers, those on the front lines who are expected to clean up the absolutely overwhelming mess, to help the traumatized heal and recover, while others go on creating more of these problems without consequence or consideration.
